Travesti de Sangre

Travesti de Sangre was part of the larger Gina Pane project Matt und Schlapp wie Schnee in the frame of the project: Troubling Research. Performing Knowledge in the Arts for which I collaborated with artist Teresa Maria Diaz Nerio and art- and architecture historian Patrizia Grzonka. Travesti de Sangre was performed in the frame of the show re-act feminism # 2 at the artcenter Montehermoso at Vitoria-Gasteiz 2011, then still run by its visionary artistic director Xabier Arakistain.

'Travesti de Sangre'

The performance Travesti de Sangre was a final puzzle-piece in our Gina Pane project, which was presented as an installation in re-act feminism. In this live performance we were diving head-on into the difficult topic of how to deal with
Pane´s (self-) wounding in the re-reading and reconstruction of her work. Our highly artificial, painstakingly chorerographed image-sequence demonstrated the power of "the wound" as an image, always already present in western art history.
